Project: Private client (planting design and installation)

Location: East Kilbride

This client had a large flowerbed running across the width of the garden that they had been advised to lay to gravel due to its challenging (boggy!) soil conditions. After the appropriate soil and microclimate tests, a detailed planting plan was drawn up using plants that would not only survive in the conditions but would thrive. Similar plant textures and colours were used across the space to unify the brighter, more freely-draining areas with the damper, boggier ground..

The clients have been delighted with the results. Within months the scheme had filled out and transformed the bottom of their garden, blending it seamlessly in with the woodland beyond, and providing interest year round and through the seasons. The scheme will take several years to mature fully, and the design will continue to evolve and develop as the plants fully bed in.

We undertake ongoing maintenance of this planting scheme, with Tom available to make any tweaks required as time goes on
